Ideas - Not Complaints

This item is in response to a comment that was critical of the way this blog is being handled and said that it was in poor taste. Point taken, however if you had taken the time to read ALL of the posts you would have seen that the purpose of the blog is to generate ideas to help the people in Strathroy. It is clear that you believe that your job is not in jeopardy or you wouldn't be so cavalier in your approach to this situation. Also, you have failed to leave us with any constructive ideas.
Anyone can criticize something . . . Take some time, think what you would do if YOUR job was about to end in six weeks and post those thoughts. I'd like to challenge everyone to use the 'put-a-gun-to-your-head' mentality to come up with some positive ideas.
What would you do if it was your job that was going to be lost?

I have to disagree. I work for atlantic superstore, a banner of Loblaws, and I am quite happy and enjoy going to work. Most of my fellow employees feel the same way, and our store happens to be the most successful in the maritimes.

Well, mmerovitch, I'm glad that you are happy, unfortunately you aren't about to lose your job. If you would have read all the posts you would realise that the Strathroy store is the top selling store in it's region. You may be working at the top selling store in the Maritimes, but if there is even a threat of a Walmart opening near you - start looking for another job.
My question to you is - What would you do if Loblaws announced the closure of your store?

One thing that irks me, is to keep hearing Strathroy was the top of its region. What region? Its a very profitable store, yes, but it is not top dog.

Dear mmerovitch
I didn't hear anyone saying that they didn't like their jobs-they don't like the company at this point. I, too, like my job, for the most part.I have been with loblaws for 21 years and am known to be a work-aholic.The situation changes when, after all of the time and energy spent doing what you can for the company they decide to brutally change your wages and work conditions.I'd like to see how long you would stay if the job you are doing today,at the rate of pay that you earn,no longer look anything similar in 5 years. We full time people have watched the job and the environment change little by little each year until the work days are longer, benefits are cut, weekend are a rule instead of an exception, and we must now work two evenings a week until close.A far cry from what we signed on for.Now thay want to cut my pay by 25% for the same work-probably with longer hours. Is that really attractive to you.If so,just stay employed for another couple of years-it'll be coming your way too.

I've been working for Atlantic Superstore for two years and I'm no further ahead in my pay and getting my raises. Two years and only making 10 cents more then minimum wage, and I'm a single mother. They SUCK, I hate the store and the way they convinced you that their policies and wage scale are quite good. BULL SHIT, I want to fell like I mean something to them. No wonder they have so much turnover cause no one wants to work for them. Looking for another job, and fast!!!!!!!!
